I/O Analysis and optimization, and Capacity Planning.

·     Coordinated the configuration and install of over 130 remote printers.  Development of web tools to be used by the Help Desk for troubleshooting of these printers.

·     Mentored key Wake County staff in basic management of the RS/6000 and SUN platforms, as well as procedures for tape backups and disaster recovery.

·     Implemented tape backups using FDR/Upstream to an S/390 system.  The transport used was IP over ESCON. Extensive tuning was needed on the ESCON interfaces.

Helena Chemical Company – Memphis, TN   May, ’98 – Jul ‘00

System Administrator/Integrator

·     Administration of a 7 High Node SP/2 Cluster (AIX 4.3.3, PSSP 3.2) with 860 GB’s of online storage hosted on an IBM Versatile Storage Server (VSS) using RAID 5 arrays.  The Cluster had a total of 36 GB’s of RAM, 38 processors and a TB3 switch. 

·     Supported the DBAs through a full implementation of ORACLE financials 10.7, this included optimal disk layout, performance tuning and monitoring, as well as capacity planning and performance analysis.

·     Administration and planning a Lease replacement of a 2 Frame SP/2 complex with 2 IBM S80 “Enterprise Class” Servers with 1.2 TB of shared storage hosted on an IBM Enterprise Storage Server (ESS).   This storage was migrated from an older VSS. I coordinated the migration as well as the Application testing.

·     All subsequent storage and server upgrades and maintenance. Including performance management, benchmarking, and tuning for the OS as well as Oracle DB/APPS.  This required constant interaction and collaboration with the DBA and the APPS teams.

·     Designed and Maintained HACMP Clusters.

·     Planned and implemented DR/BC tests with BCRS in Sterling Forest, NY

·     I was responsible for upgrades, maintenance and security on all internal UNIX systems.
